Motivational interviewing is a technique used in health promotion, predominantly by health advisors, but also by doctors and nurses, to encourage change in risk taking behaviour. It is a sensitive area of sexual healthcare to navigate and requires an understanding of the basic principles and theory underpinning motivational interviewing, thus allowing the interviewer to investigate and address multiple risk-taking behaviours including drug and alcohol abuse, and chemsex.
We can provide carefully structured training in a course designed and delivered by an expert clinician in our team with experience and insights in the subject. The training can be adapted to include specific topics that may be requested.
